Rosario María Gutiérrez Eskildsen

Rosario María Gutiérrez Eskildsen (born April 16, 1899 in Villahermosa , † May 12, 1979 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican Romanist and Hispanicist of Danish descent.

life and work

Rosario María Gutiérrez Eskildsen grew up in Villahermosa , worked as a teacher in Mexico and studied in Mexico City , as well as at Columbia University with Tomás Navarro Tomás and Federico de Onís . In 1934 she completed her studies at the Escuela normal superior in Mexico City with the thesis Prosodia y fonética tabasqueñas (Mexico 1978). In 1941 she finished her studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico with the work El habla popular y campesina de Tabasco . She received her doctorate there in 1944 with the work Substrato y superestrato del español de Tabasco ( Substrate and Superstrat of Spanish from Tabasco ; Mexico 1978) and continued to work as a teacher. She received great recognition in Mexico. Numerous institutions bear her name.
