Rose Hill is the name for a neighborhood in the New York borough of Manhattan that has recently been used again.

location

Rose Hill extends north-south between 25th Street and 30th Street and is bounded to the west and east by Third Avenue and Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue , respectively . Rose Hill is now administratively on both Manhattan Community Board 5 and Manhattan Community Board 6 . Rose Hill neighborhoods are surrounded by: Murray Hill to the north, Kips Bay to the east, the Flatiron District and Gramercy Park to the south, and NoMad to the west.

The farm "Rose Hill" was located here in the 18th century. As part of the urban development of Manhattan, the farmland was divided into building plots based on a planning template from 1811, which was based on the road planning that still exists today. Gramercy Park was laid out in 1831 on the southwest corner of the former farmland of "Rose Hill" .

Today Rose Hill is home to Baruch College , New York University College of Dentistry, and the School of Visual Arts campus .

In the southwest corner of Rose Hill, Madison Square is between 23rd Street and 26th Street on Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue. Originally, Madison Square Garden was also located here from 1879 to 1890 on a corner of Madison Square (corner of Madison Avenue and 26th Street). The second Madison Square Garden (1890 to 1925) was also built on the same property according to plans by Stanford White , who was later murdered in the roof restaurant of Madison Square Garden. Thereafter, Madison Square Garden was relocated to the west of 33rd Street on Eighth Avenue .
