Rose Marie (singer)
Rose Marie , real name Rosmary Kane (* 1956 in Newry , County Down ) is a Northern Irish singer.
Life
She was the oldest of six children. At five she sang in the school choir, later with her sisters Anne, Madeleine and Kathleen as Kane Sisters in local talent shows. At 17 she went to London ; u. a. she sang in the Ken Mackintosh Band.
Her first solo single was When I Leave the World Behind by Irvin Berlin, her debut album in 1983 Rose-Marie Sings Just for You. It was in the charts for 13 weeks.
In 1986 she was referred to as "Britain's Best Female Vocalist", later also as the "British Answer to Bette Midler " and "Irish World Best International Female Singer".
