Style of play

The game board shows part of England divided into 9x9 squares. Each player tries to mark the largest possible contiguous areas. At the beginning each player receives 5 power cards, which he displays face up in front of him, and the 4 hero cards of his color. The crown stone is placed on the central space of the game board. In turn, a player must do one of the following three options:

  • Play power card:
To do this, the card is placed on the discard pile and the crown stone is moved in the direction indicated by the sword on the card, by as many spaces as it corresponds to the value of the card. The full card value must be used and the crown stone may only land on a free field and not be dragged over the edge of the field. He marks the target field with a power stone so that the color of his rose can be seen and then places the crown stone on the power stone.
  • Draw power card:
If you have less than 5 power cards, you can draw a new power card from the draw pile.
  • Playing a hero card together with a power card:
If you land on a power stone of the other color by playing a power card, you can turn it over in return for a hero card. Then the crown stone is placed on this power stone.

If a player cannot use any of these 3 options, he must pass. The game ends when both players cannot take any more actions or the last power marker has been placed on the field. The players determine the value of their territories. To do this, each area, which consists of one or more fields that are connected to one another by at least one side, is multiplied by itself. An area of 8 fields has the value 64. The values of the individual areas are added. The winner is the player with the highest value.
