Rosie Reyes

Rosa María "Rosie" Reyes Darmon (born March 23, 1939 in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican tennis player .

biography

Reyes played tennis actively from the late 1950s to the late 1970s. Her greatest success was the victory at the French tennis championships (now the French Open) in 1958 in women's doubles. With her doubles partner and compatriot Yola Ramírez , she defeated the Australians Mary Bevis Hawton and Thelma Coyne Long in two sets 6: 4, 7: 5 in the final . In 1957 and 1959 Reyes reached the finals of the doubles competition with Ramírez and in 1974 the finals in mixed doubles with the Mexican Marcello Lara .

Reyes married the French tennis player Pierre Darmon and took his name. At the 1968 Summer Olympics , she competed with Julie Heldman in doubles and her husband Pierre Darmon in mixed, both under the French flag. However, tennis was not part of the official program as a demonstration sport.
