Roswitha Raudaschl (born September 11, 1967 ) is a former Austrian ski racer . She won the Women's Pro Ski Tour three times and at the same time professional world championships and 37 professional ski races.

biography

Raudaschl started skiing when he was 2 ½ years old and drove for the WSV St. Wolfgang, which is assigned to the Salzburg State Ski Association. Together with the later world ski champion Rudi Nierlich (1989, 1991), she was trained by his father before they both switched to the main ski school in Windischgarsten in Upper Austria. In her youth she drove back to the Salzburg national team.

After she had graduated from the ski school in Schladming and did not appear in any of the ÖSV squads, she switched to the American professional ski tour in 1987 at the age of 19.

She immediately won the first two professional races in January 1987 in Beaver Creek, Colorado and fought for the Tour victory until the last race. But she just had to admit defeat to the American world champion Cathy Bruce. The races held in the parallel slalom and parallel RSL format with 2 to 3 built-in jumps were perfect for the petite racer. Roswitha Raudaschl received the Rooky of the Year Award 1987.

In the seasons 1987/88, 1990/91, 1991/92 she won the overall ranking and world championships three times.

In 1989 she became Japan Series Champion in Hatoriko, Japan. In 1991 she was nominated among the top 10 finalists for the “Sportswomen of the Year Award” in the USA in the professional ski sport category.

In the 1992/93 season she won ten races, but despite the many victories, the world champion Catharina Glasser Bjerner from Sweden was able to recapture her title.

She was crowned Chrysler Series Champion three times and was one of the most successful ski professionals with 37 wins and as many podium places. Austria's professional world champion won two parallel slaloms and one RSL in January 1994 before she broke an ankle in Keystone , Colorado on January 30, 1994 in the semi-finals of the slalom. That meant the end of my career.

Raudaschl is the mother of one son. She runs a hotel and shop in St. Wolfgang and an apartment house in Längenfeld in the Ötztal.
