The Trillerkreuz (other spelling: Triller-Kreuz ) is a wayside shrine at the intersection of Brünner Strasse and Trillergasse in Vienna's 21st district, Floridsdorf . The property is under monument protection .

history

The column, built before 1660, was originally free-standing and was later built into a house wall. It has only been free-standing since 1967.

description

The trill cross is a stone shrine in relief. Over a simple base is a square pillar with geometric motifs. The front side shows the " Veronica's handkerchief " and the tools of suffering . A tabernacle attachment is set off from the square pillar by a surrounding cornice . On the top of the tabernacle there are round arch fields, in which there are three relief representations. They show the “Crucifixion of Jesus”, “Christ on the Mount of Olives” and “Our Lady of Sorrows”. A donor's inscription can be read on the fourth page of the tabernacle. Above the top is a protruding cover plate. The wayside shrine is closed at the top by a one-armed metal cross.

In the tabernacle essay the following inscription can be read in the donor field: "HERR ANDREAS / TRILLER / RÖM: KAY / MAY: / SERVANT AND / HOFGANTRALOR / AND HIS PETE / HOUSEWIFE AS / MARIA AND ANNA / MARIA GOTT ZU / EHRN TISES GREITZ / MAKE LET" .

The following inscription is engraved on the cover plate: “HOW TO GO THROUGH TIME / COMES THE DEAD O PEOPLE THUE BUES; AND FORCE GOD / OUR HOPE IS TO GOD ”.
