The sports club Rot-Weiß Lennestadt-Grevenbrück eV is a German football club from Lennestadt in the Sauerland . The first team played between 1994 and 1996 in the then fourth-class Oberliga Westfalen .

history

The original cell of today's club is the game and sports club Grevenbrück , which joined TV 1907 Grevenbrück in January 1920 . On July 26, 1921, the football department became independent as the Sportclub Förde Grevenbrück . In 1933, the Sportclub Förde rejoined TV 1907. On July 16, 1971, the football department was again independent under its current name.

As a rule, the team from Rot-Weiß Lennestadt played at district level. The club only played in the district league between 1969 and 1976. It was not until 1980 that he was promoted to the district league again. The sporting boom began with the hiring of the coach Dieter Richard in 1985. Richard led his team to two consecutive promotions. After the association league in 1988 could only be held after playoffs, the Lennestädter fought their way forward in the following years and in 1994 made the leap into the Oberliga Westfalen as the first club from the Olpe district .

In the 1994/95 season , the team was able to hold the class in tenth, before relegation followed a year later as the last. In 1999 he was relegated to the regional league, before relegation to the regional league had to be accepted ten years later. Finally, in 2014, the Lennestädter relegated to the district league A. In 2020 he was promoted to the district league again.

In addition to the first team, a second senior team, three old league teams (in partnership with DJK Bonzel) and seven youth teams take part in the game.

Stadion

The game is played in the stadium on the Habuche in the Lennestadt district of Grevenbrück. The facility was inaugurated in 1971 and completely renovated in 1998. In 2015 a new artificial turf surface was laid. Around 2500 seats are available for spectators, 500 of which are covered.

Personalities

Dieter Richard trained the first team between 1985 and 1992. In 1996 he became German champion with the women's team of TSV Siegen .
