Rotalia Island (English; Bulgarian остров Роталия ostrow Rotalija ) is a south-east-northwest orientation 310 m long and 250 m wide island off the north coast of Nelson Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 2.06 km west-southwest of Cariz Point , 1.2 km northeast of Baklan Point and 2.2 km east of Withem Island .
British scientists mapped it in 1968. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2018 after the Bulgarian trawler Rotalija , who from the 1970s to the early 1990s fishing in the waters around South Georgia , around the Kerguelen , around the Southern Orkney- and the South Shetland Islands and around the Antarctic Peninsula .
