The red-breasted tit ( Periparus rubidiventris ; from Latin rubidus 'brown red' and venter 'belly') is a songbird species from the tit family (Paridae).

description

The species has a black head with a black hood, from which white stripes stand out on the cheek and the back of the hood. The top is gray and the bottom is gray-brown in color.

distribution

The red-breasted tit colonizes a large area in Bhutan , China , India , Myanmar and Nepal , where it lives in four subspecies, namely P. r. rubidiventris ( Blyth , 1847) (from northwest to northeast India and northern Nepal), P. r. beavani ( Jerdon , 1863) (Northeast India and Bhutan), P. r. whistleri ( Stresemann , 1931) (Southwest China, Northeast Myanmar and Northeast India) and P. r. saramatii ( Ripley , 1961) (only local in northwest Myanmar ). It lives in forests and feeds on insects and seeds.
