Red Mill (Lohr Valley)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rote Mühle (also Farbmühle ) on the federal road 276 between Lohr am Main and Partenstein is a landmark .

history

It was first used (around 1900) to process barite from the Partenstein mining industry, which has since been abandoned, and then from Kassler brown for Bakelite . It got its current name from the grinding of iron oxide red by the Scholz company from 1923, which now produces pigments for concrete products in the building, which has now been changed but is still red plastered.

location

A public but unpaved road leads from the Rote Mühle through the Lehngrund over the Katharinenbild to Ruppertshütten , the only officially drivable connection from the Lohr city center to the district that does not lead through places outside the community.
