The Red Rectangle Nebula (Engl. Red Rectangle Nebula ) is a protoplanetary nebula (precursor of a planetary nebula ) in the constellation Unicorn and is about 2,300 light years from the earth away. The name "Red Rectangle" goes back to the astronomers Martin Cohen and Mike Merril in 1973 .
