Rothe Mill

The Rothe Mühle is a former grinding mill on the Holtemme between Wernigerode and Silstedt in the Harz district , which is now used for residential purposes and as a café and beer garden . It was operated by a mill ditch that still carries water today and flows back into the Holtemme right next to the mill.

The name of the mill was only introduced in 1839 by the then mill owner Karl Peters. Previously, the mill bore the name of the respective owner family, so Schwaneckesche Mühle and then Schickesche Mühle . The mill has been owned by the Abel family for several decades.
