The Rottenbach is a tributary of the (Königseer) Rinne in the Paulinzellaer Vorland in Thuringia . It flows through the Rinne-Rottenbachtal nature reserve on its approximately ten-kilometer course .
The Rottenbach rises from several source streams in the Paulinzella forest near Gösselborn . It then flows in a south-easterly direction through Paulinzella and Milbitz to Rottenbach , where it joins the gully from the left.
The Rottenbachtal is an important traffic route in which both the Arnstadt – Saalfeld railway line and the Stadtilm – Rottenbach state road run.
