The Rinne , also called Königseer Rinne to distinguish it from the nearby Remdaer Rinne , is an 18 km long tributary of the Schwarza in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in the Thuringian Slate Mountains .

course

It rises on the northern outskirts of Herschdorf in the Ilm district and initially flows in a northerly direction to Garsitz . Then Königsee follows in its course the village of Rottenbach , where it takes up the 12 km long Rottenbach . It flows into the Schwarza on the left in Bad Blankenburg .

Environmental pollution overcome

During the GDR era, the gutter was biologically dead . Apart from the municipalities on the Rinne, the main polluter was the former Königsee tool factory (formerly Stock & Co ), which discharged the wastewater from the hardening shop and pickling plants in an insufficiently neutralized manner . The pollution was so severe that rusted tools and other parts in Watzdorf were dipped into the gutter to be cleaned and removed again after two to three days.

Today the channel has regenerated so much that small animals and fish feel comfortable in it.
