The hexadeca-trie acids 7,10,13- are triple unsaturated fatty acids in the group of omega-3 fatty acid . The trienoic acids are among the isolenic acids because the three double bonds are each separated by a methylene group .

The three double bonds can each be in the cis or trans configuration; accordingly there are several isomeric hexadeca-7,10,13-trienoic acids.

The all- cis -hexadeca-7,10,13-trienoic acid [ IUPAC name : (7 Z , 10 Z , 13 Z ) -hexadeca-7,10,13-trienoic acid, common name: roughanic acid ] occurs in small amounts in glycolipids , Galactolipids , mostly in the leaves, various conifers and Brassica species, but also in other plant species. It is also found in ferns and algae . A distinction is made between 16: 3 and 18: 3 plants.

Positional isomer-trienoic acids 7,10,13-hexadeca to are the Hiragonsäure (one of the hexadeca-6,10,14-trienoic acids ) and the hexadeca-trienoic acids 8,11,14- .
