Roundy Park Cairn

The Roundy Park Cairn (also Roundy Park Enclosure and Cairn called) is located next to the prehistoric enclosure Roundy Park, on the west bank of the East Dart River , about 1.2 km north-west of Postbridge in Devon in England . Roundy Park is one of the largest stone boxes ( Cornish Kistvaen ) found in a cairn on Dartmoor . Postbridge's Clapper Bridge is nearby .

The 1.95 m long and 0.95 m wide stone box has been exposed from its cairn. Its two large capstones and seven side plates, instead of the usual four, are present. One long side consists of three, the other of two panels. A small stone circle surrounds the box. When it was discovered in 1893 by Robert Burnard, who straightened two side plates and replaced a capstone, it had already been cleared out. He found only two fragments of flint and a few burned bones under the rubble .

The stone box lies outside the northeast wall of the Roundy Park Enclosure. This consists of a 0.3 m high and 4.0 m wide wall. Most of the traces of a prehistoric settlement have been removed from the interior. The foundations of at least five huts on the outer wall were preserved.

To the north are the Gray Wethers and Fernworthy stone circles .
