Rouven Kötter

Rouven Kötter (* 1979 in Friedberg , Hessen ) is a German politician ( SPD ) from the former mining community of Wölfersheim in the Wetterau. He is first alderman of the FrankfurtRheinMain regional association . Kötter is married and has two children.

education and profession

Born 1979 in Friedberg (Hessen), he attended the following schools and universities: Elementary School Wölfersheim, Ernst-Ludwig-Schule Bad Nauheim (Abitur), FH Gießen-Friedberg (Diplom-Betriebswirt and Master of Business Administration) and University of Kassel (Master of Public Administration).

The trained bank and savings bank clerk (Sparkasse Oberhessen) completed his community service in an integrative day care center in Wölfersheim and was responsible for economic development, marketing and controlling from 2005 until his election as mayor of the municipality of Wölfersheim.

Kötter was mayor of the municipality of Wölfersheim from 2008 to 2018 . In his first election in 2008 he prevailed in the first ballot against four competitors with 69.5%. When he was re-elected in 2014, he won against a competitor with 95.7%.

During his tenure, the municipality of Wölfersheim signed two town twinning agreements with L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs in France and Rabca in Slovakia. Kötter was shaped politically in particular by the fight against the right-wing NPD, which celebrated great successes in Wölfersheim at the end of the 1980s. In 2016, the NPD did not move into the Wölfersheim municipal parliament for the first time, which earned the municipality nationwide recognition. According to the local press, Wölfersheim has developed into a “model municipality” during Kötter's tenure, “not only because of a solid budget policy (...), but also because of an innovative spirit that can be linked to special services by the municipality and a transparent management style. "

On September 20, 2017, Kötter was elected full-time First Deputy for six years by the Chamber of the FrankfurtRheinMain regional association. He took up his term on March 1, 2018. Since then he has been responsible for the areas of mobility, Europe, the metropolitan region, climate, environment, public relations, municipal services and finance.

Kötter sits on a voluntary basis in the Wetterau district council and is chairman of the committee for regional development, environment and economy. He is also deputy chairman of the SPD Wetterau and a member of the regional assembly of South Hesse.
