Roya Hakakian
Roya Hakakian (* 1966 ) is an Iranian-American writer and director.
life and work
In 1984 Hakakian left Tehran with her family and went to the USA . She now lives there as a poet ( For a Sake of Water ) and journalist (NPR's Weekend Edition) as well as a documentary filmmaker. Her short film Armed and Innocent (Engl. Armed and Innocent ) is a film about the intricacies of child soldiers in wars around the world.
Their memories about growing up as a Jewish teenager in post-revolutionary Iran Ruhollah Khomeini has it under the title Journey from the Land of No published.
She is also a founding member of the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center .
