Royston Mathew Brady (born August 24, 1972 ) is an Irish businessman and former politician and was a member of the Dublin City Council from 1999 to 2004 .

biography

Royston Brady was a Fianna Fáil candidate for the local elections in June 1999 in November 1998 . After his election victory, he was the youngest member of Dublin City Council at the age of 26. From July 2000 to July 2001 he held the post of Vice Mayor under Lord Mayor Maurice Ahern . From July 2003 to July 2004 he finally held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin himself . In 2004 Brady ran in the European elections in the Dublin constituency; he did not run for the city council elections in 2004. However, statements about the 1974 car bomb attacks in Dublin - Brady said his father's taxi had been stolen by the perpetrators and used as a getaway car - caused a stir shortly before the European elections. Although the information later turned out to be true, it was perceived by the public as a campaign maneuver, leading to Brady's electoral defeat. Brady now withdrew from politics. In 2006 he was a juror on Rose of Tralee .

Brady is married with one child. His brother Cyprian Brady is also active as a politician (Fianna Fáil).
