Rubén Cárdenas , also known by the nickname Totol , is a retired Mexican soccer player who played in both defense and midfield .

Life

During his professional career, Cárdenas was mainly under contract with the two major rivals of Mexican football , Club América and Chivas Guadalajara .

While "Totol" Cárdenas could not win any titles with Chivas, he won the championship title of the 1970/71 season during his first phase with the Americanistas and after his return the CONCACAF Champions Cup on January 18, 1978. In the 1973/74 season he stood presumably under contract with Puebla FC .
