Cani , real name Rubén Gracia Calmache (born August 3, 1981 in Saragossa ), is a former Spanish football player .

Player career

Cani comes from the youth of Real Saragossa , the largest club in his hometown. For the 2000/01 season he was loaned to the Tercera División at the suburban club FC Utebo . He made his first division debut on May 11, 2002, the last matchday of the current season, at the home game against FC Barcelona . It was the last game for his club before joining the Segunda División . In the following years he became a regular player and he succeeded in direct recovery with his team.

In 2004 he won the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid and champions Valencia .

Cani has been playing for league rivals Villarreal since summer 2006 , where he was also able to become a regular player.

On January 7, 2015, Cani moved to the reigning champions Atlético Madrid on loan until the end of the 2014/15 season .
