Rube Ferns (born October 30, 1873 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , USA as James Ferns , † June 11, 1952 ) was an American boxer .

Ferns became the universal welterweight champion in 1900 from January to October and the following year from May to December . His match record shows 46 wins in 73 fights, 33 of them by knockout. His successor as world champion was Joe Walcott .
