Ruben Alfredo Andresen Leitão (* 26. May 1920 in Lisbon ; † 29. September 1975 in London ) was a Portuguese historian and writer, his works under the pseudonym Ruben A. published.

Life

Ruben Alfredo Andresen Leitão taught at King's College London from 1947 to 1951 . From 1954 to 1972 he worked for the Brazilian embassy in Lisbon.

After the first literary publications in 1949, his first novel Caranguejo was published in 1954 . In his novels he took up historical themes and interwoven them in a surrealist time and plot structure. In doing so, he looked for the Portuguese mentality both in terms of individual psychology and in terms of social and historical events.

His works have not yet been translated into German.
