Rubio Mendez Rubin (born March 1, 1996 in Beaverton , Oregon ) is an American football player.

Player career

youth

Until 2011 Rubin played for the Westside Metros, a youth football club from Beaverton. As a result of the partnership between the Metros and the Major League Soccer franchise Portland Timbers , he switched to their youth and development program. At the same time, in 2011 he also moved to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida , in order to be able to concentrate more on the sport.

professional

In 2014 he left the Timbers and moved to Europe for the Dutch first division club FC Utrecht . He made his first team debut for the Dutch on August 17, 2014.

National team

In 2012, while he was still playing for the US U-17 national team, Rubin was named US Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year.

Due to its origins, Rubin was able to accrue for Mexico, Guatemala or the USA. He chose the United States national soccer team , also because he has played in several youth teams. He was appointed to the US squad for the first time in September 2014. On November 14, 2014, he made his senior team debut in a friendly against Colombia.
