The Rudder Point ( English for Ruderspitze ) is a towering headland on the southeastern foothills of Leskov Island in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It marks the entrance to the crater bay to the south .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the headland after its resemblance to a ship's rudder .
