As part of the European Rowing Championships in 2018 , the four-man competition without a helmsman was held on the Strathclyde Loch regatta course between August 2nd and 4th, 2018 . A total of nine nations took part, each with one boat, and two prelims, a hope run and an A and a B final were held. While the German starters took sixth and last place in the A-final, the Russian team won ahead of Romania and Poland.
The two preliminary runs were held on August 2, 2018. The first two boats of the prelims qualified directly for the finals, while the others had the opportunity to qualify for the finals via the repechage.
From the hope race, which was held on August 3, 2018, the two best teams qualified for the A final. Meanwhile, the other teams had to start in the B final.
