Rowing club Wiking Linz

The rowing club Wiking Linz (RV Wiking Linz) is a rowing and tennis club in Linz . It was founded in 1900 .

On May 17th 1900 the second Linz rowing club RV Wiking Linz was founded. Franz Schnopfhagen was a founding member of the club and served as its first president for the first ten years . From 1920, President Robert von Gasteiger ensured success not only as a functionary but also as a trainer: Wiking won the first Austrian title in eighth. At the Olympic Games in 1928 Leo Losert and Viktor Flessl won the bronze medal in a double scull . A total of twelve rowers from RV Wiking took part in the Olympic Games. With three Olympic appearances, Hermann Bauer is the Wiking rower with the most Olympic appearances, and in 1989 he won a bronze medal at the World Rowing Championships .

RV Wiking Linz is one of the most successful rowing clubs in Austria today . This rowing club has become known in Austria primarily through its youth work.
