Viktor Flessl

Viktor Flessl (born November 6, 1898 in Braunau , † December 18, 1943 in Breza ) was an Austrian rower who won an Olympic bronze medal in a double scull in 1928 .

Flessl started for the rowing club Wiking Linz . Although both the club and the athletes were Austrian, he regularly competed in the German rowing championships. In 1926 and 1927 he won there together with Leo Losert in the double scull , with which he took second place in 1925 and 1928. In 1928 they lost to the Berlin duo Horst Hoeck and Gerhard Voigt . At the 1928 Olympic Games on a canal in Amsterdam, two boats competed against each other in a knockout system. Hoeck and Voigt were eliminated in the third round and took fourth place. Losert and Flessl made it to the semi-finals and received the bronze medal behind the boats from the United States and Canada.

Flessl fell in Bosnia as a first lieutenant in the fight against partisans during World War II.

Flessl was also a member of the student association Bajuvaria zu Linz.
