Rudolf Betz

Rudolf Betz (* 1907 ; † 1970 in Munich ) was a German photographer .

Life

Rudolf Betz came to photography as an autodidact after completing his degree in economics. After starting out in the field of landscape photography, in May 1940 he found stage photography at the Munich National Theater , his future main field of work from 1947 to 1970. One focus was on ballet photography. In addition to opera and drama photos, Betz also made a name for himself with industrial, advertising and fashion photos and ran a portrait studio specializing in artist portraits. His photographic estate, which mainly includes his work for the Bavarian State Opera , the Bavarian State Theater and the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz , is located in the German Theater Museum in Munich .
