Rudolf Brandts

Rudolf Brandts (born March 21, 1913 in Mönchengladbach ; † November 18, 2003 in Bergisch Gladbach ) was a German archivist . From 1954 to 1978 he headed the Rhineland archives advice center .

Life

After studying in Tübingen and Bonn (1934–1939) and receiving his doctorate in Bonn ("The Dukes of Upper Lorraine in the Empire from 1048 to the Exit of the Salian Imperial House"), he joined the archives advisory office in 1942 under the direction of Reichsoberarchivrat Dr. Wilhelm Kisky , where he worked until his retirement in 1978.

As a regional historian, he opened up a number of sources in regesta works .

Rudolf Brandts' grandfather, Franz Brandts , founded the Volksverein for Catholic Germany as the first chairman in 1890 .
