Rudolf Gallois

Rudolf Gallois (born May 11, 1894 in Höchst am Main , † 1979 ) was an Austrian mechanical engineer and association official .

Life

Galloi's father was a chemist from Austria at the Meister, Lucius & Brüning company, the forerunner of Hoechst AG . He himself went to high school in Höchst and began studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University in Munich in the winter semester of 1913/14 , where he was a member of the Corps Vitruvia. He took part in the First World War as a first lieutenant in the Austro-Hungarian pioneer troops and the Austro-Hungarian bridge-building battalion in Serbia and Russia. In 1919 he continued his studies at the TH Dresden . He finished his training with a thesis on steam turbine constructions. In 1921 Gallois became a production engineer at IG Farben's Höchst plant . In 1939 he became chief engineer at Buna-Werke GmbH in Schkopau .

After the Second World War, Gallois was repatriated to Austria in 1947. In 1954 he became the technical director of the Austrian nitrogen works AG and led the reconstruction of the war-destroyed plant. From 1950 to 1955 he was a member of the commission for holding the second state examination at the Vienna University of Technology . From 1958 to 1961 he was a member of the administrative board of TÜV Vienna. From 1952 to 1961 he was president of the Upper Austrian Association of Engineers and Architects, and from 1958 to 1961 he was vice-president of the entire association. Until 1970 he was also vice president of the professional association of technicians in Vienna.

Awards

In 1961, Gallois was made an honorary senator of the Vienna University of Technology . In 1970 he became an honorary member of the Austrian Association of Engineers and Architects .
