Rudolf Hamann

Rudolf Hamann (* 1937 in Bremen ) is a German sociologist .

Hamann studied sociology, history and political science in Freiburg and Hamburg, was founded in 1964 at the Faculty of the University of Hamburg with a thesis on Pareto's elite theory and its place in modern sociology to Dr. phil. PhD. For several years he was a lecturer at the Hamburg Institute for Teacher Training and at the Army Officer School II in Hamburg. From 1974 to 2000 he worked at the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg , initially as a lecturer. With the help of a two-year grant from the German Research Foundation , he completed his habilitation in 1979 with the thesis Revolution and Evolution. On the importance of a historically accentuated sociology that was accompanied by Heinz Kluth . He then became a private lecturer in sociology there.

He was full-time senior scientific director in the social sciences department at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg. According to Uwe Hartmann, he is one of those “military-critical intellectuals [...] who were in the service of the Bundeswehr” and at the same time contributed to the “tensions between intellectuals and the military”.
