Rudolf Harramach

Rudolf Harramach (born April 23, 1915 in Vienna ; † February 16, 1979 there ) was an Austrian private employee and politician ( ÖVP ). Harramach was a member of the Federal Council from 1959 to 1973 and General Secretary of the Austrian Workers' Association (ÖAAB) from 1956 to 1972.

Life

After graduating from the technical and industrial federal college in Mödling (electrical engineering), Rudolf Harramach began his political work in 1949 when he was elected to the works council of the steel group Schoeller-Bleckmann . In the same year he joined the ÖVP.

Through his work as a works council, he found access to the ÖAAB and also joined it in 1950. After several different managerial functions within the ÖAAB, Rudolf Harramach was elected Secretary General of the ÖAAB in 1956. He held this position for 16 years. Harramach also served as a Federal Councilor from December 11, 1959 to November 23, 1973 . He was later elected to the supervisory board of the Austrian mineral oil administration ( OMV AG ).
