Rudolf Johann Marsik

Rudolf Johann Marsik (born June 24, 1897 in Vienna ; † January 2 or 3, 1943 in the Stutthof concentration camp ) was an Austrian worker and resistance fighter against National Socialism . He was deported to three different concentration camps by the Nazi regime and eventually put to death.

Life

Marsik belonged to the communist Reichsbahner organization. He was arrested in early February 1942 and deported to Mauthausen concentration camp on June 14, 1942 . At the beginning of September 1942 he was transferred to the Flossenbürg concentration camp , and in October 1942 to the Stutthof concentration camp , where he finally perished.

Commemoration

His name is on a plaque of a memorial of the ÖBB main workshop Simmering (Grillgasse 48), which was designed by Rudolf Hönigsfeld . The memorial also commemorates Karl Alberstetter , Josef Bischof , Richard Holy , Karl Medwed , Wilhelm Pfeiler , Ferdinand Picka , Aladar Schlesinger , Jarolin Tesar and Otto Wehofschitz , all victims of National Socialism.
