Rudolf Katzer

Rudolf Katzer or Richard Katzer (* 1888 ; † unknown) was a German racing cyclist . In 1908 he won an Olympic silver medal in the team pursuit .

Katzer began cycling in Wroclaw, and in 1906 he competed on the track for the first time. In 1907 he moved to Berlin and joined the Cycling Club Berlin . He was successful in both the sprint and standing races. In the year of his participation in the Olympic Games, he belonged to the Berlin club RV Sport 1888.

At the Olympic Games in London in 1908 , he competed in four individual disciplines, but only reached the goal in the 1000-meter sprint and missed promotion to the second round in all disciplines. Only in the team pursuit, which was carried out in 1908 over 1980 yards, about 1810 meters, did he win in the first round together with Max Götze , Hermann Martens and Karl Neumer over the French foursome. After beating the Dutch in the semi-final, the German four-man lost to the British in the final.
