Rudolf Nürnberger

Rudolf Nürnberger (born September 5, 1945 in Lassee ) is an Austrian trade unionist, politician ( SPÖ ) and former member of the Austrian National Council and Federal Council .

education and profession

Rudolf Nürnberger attended primary school from 1951 to 1955 and then secondary school until 1959. He learned the trade of toolmaker by 1963 . Nürnberger did military service in 1964 and attended the three-year trade union school from 1965 to 1968. Nürnberger graduated from the Social Academy between 1968 and 1969.

Nürnberger worked as a toolmaker between 1963 and 1972 and was secretary of the metal-mining-energy union between 1972 and 1980 . From 1980 to 1988 he was central secretary of the metal-mining-energy union and in 1988 took over the chairmanship of this union. In 2006 he resigned from chairmanship of the union.

politics

Nürnberger began his political career in 1973 as a district councilor in Vienna- Brigittenau . In 1983 he left the district council and entered the Federal Council on May 27, 1983, from which he left on June 26, only to move to the National Council a day later. For years he was deputy chairman in the committee for labor and social affairs. When Nürnberger did not sign the government pact in 2000, the ÖVP took this as an opportunity to end the grand coalition . Nürnberger resigned from the National Council on April 30, 2004.
