Lassee is a market town with 2869 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria .

geography

Lassee is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria . The area of ​​the market town covers 55.62 square kilometers. 7.53 percent of the area is forested. The village of Lassee also has a recreation center (EHZ), which comprises a total of 14 lakes. Lassee has a rescue center (is looked after by the Red Cross Groß Enzersdorf) and its own police station.

Culture and sights

Lassee parish church
  • Catholic parish church Lassee hl. Martin: originally built as a fortified church in the 13th century. In the 14th century it was expanded to a three-aisled basilica and at the end of the 18th century the sacred building was changed to Baroque style .
  • In Lassee there are regular performances in the auditorium of the elementary school, be it a play by the Lassee theater group or a concert by the church choir. All sorts of different artists appear, especially in the cultural autumn. Cabaret artist Alfons Haider has performed in Lassee, among others . The cultural autumn is not limited to cabaret programs, but is also characterized by vernissages (e.g. by the painter Gottfried “Laf” Wurm).
