Generating plants
EVN Wärme GmbH has a total of around 1,000 local heating systems for building heat generation and around 50 district heating networks, most of which receive their heat from biomass heating plants .
The following table shows an extract from the district heating networks.
District heating network | Coverage area | Primary energy source | Other notes |
---|---|---|---|
to bathe | Bathing , Tribuswinkel partly | Biomass | Biomass boiler output 26.5 MW, steam turbine 5 MWel. Additional information on the page: Baden biomass cogeneration plant |
Krems | Krems , Gedersdorf | District heating storage and CHP heat from the Theiss power plant | Connected load in the final stage: 55 MW |
Mödling | Brunn , Maria Enzersdorf , Mödling , Vösendorf , Wiener Neudorf | Biomass | Biomass boiler output 26.5 MW, steam turbine 5 MWel. Additional information on the page: Mödling biomass cogeneration plant |
Sankt Pölten | Sankt Pölten | Waste and biomass CHP useful heat | Heat supply to the St. Pölten district heating system via a 31 km long transport line from the thermal waste recycling plant in Dürnrohr |
Wiener Neustadt | Wiener Neustadt | Biomass | Biomass boiler heating output 5 MW, heat from the FunderMax biomass cogeneration plant in Neudörfl via a 4 km long transport line. |
Primary energy source
The following fuels are used as primary energy sources for heat generation and delivery:
- Untreated biomass such as wood chips, sawdust, pellets
- Gaseous fuels such as natural gas , biogas , liquid gas
- non-hazardous waste
- Useful heat from combined heat and power plants that are fired with coal, natural gas or heating oil
- Heating oil
- electricity
- Geothermal energy
particularities
- The company began in 2008 with the construction of one of the longest district heating transmission lines in Europe with a route length of 31 km, i.e. 62 km. The water flows at a speed of 6 km / h and is reheated every 10 hours. From October 2009, around 2/3 of the district heating will be provided for the Lower Austrian capital St. Pölten from the Dürnrohr power plant park:
- The company supplies heat for the city of Krems an der Donau and the community of Gedersdorf from Europe's largest district heating storage facility, which is located in the Theiss power station .
- The company is building a biogas processing plant for the purification of digester gas from a sewage treatment plant and also co-fermentation gas, in which 1 million cubic meters of biogas are purified annually and fed into the natural gas network. With this gas, several 1000 households are supplied with heat from the natural gas network.
