Auersthal is a market town with 1922 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Lower Austria , Gänserndorf district .
geography
Auersthal is located in the Lower Austrian Weinviertel , about 10 km east of Wolkersdorf . The area of the market town covers 15.18 km². 2.47 percent of the area is forested.

history
As part of the history of Lower Austria , Auersthal was founded around 1050 in the course of a wave of settlements from Bavaria. In 1140 the place was first mentioned as "Urolfstal". In 1485 Auersthal and the neighboring town of Aichstauden were burned down by the Hungarians. In 1529 the Turks plundered the place and in 1645 Swedish soldiers were in Auersthal. After the French in 1805 and 1809, the Prussians came to the place in 1866. The First World War brought a lot of hardship and misery, just as the Second World War did not spare Auersthal. From 1945 to 1955 Auersthal belonged to the Soviet occupation zone. The place has flourished since the second half of the 20th century and is today a modern tourist community near the federal capital Vienna.
Population development
In 1991 the community had 1804 inhabitants. In 2003 there were 1856 inhabitants. In 2016 the population was 1923.

Culture and sights
- Catholic parish church Auersthal hl. Nicholas
- Particularly noteworthy are the chapels, martyrs and wayside shrines in and around Auersthal. They are lovingly cared for by the citizens and the village renewal association has cataloged them all in a colored brochure.
- The municipal office was completely renovated in 2003.
- Theater group Auersthal: The theater group Auersthal association founded in 1983 puts on a play every November.
- In Auersthal there is a music association with a music school and a church choir.
economy
In 2001 there were 69 non-agricultural workplaces, agricultural and forestry operations according to the 1999 survey 126. The number of people in work in the place of residence was 812 according to the 2001 census. In 2001, the activity rate was 44.08 percent.
The central monitoring station for natural gas transport and storage of OMV in Austria is also located here.
