Neusiedl an der Zaya is a market town with 1258 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria .
geography
Neusiedl an der Zaya is located in the hill country of the northeastern Weinviertel about 10 km west of Hohenau an der March . The area of the market town covers 17.58 square kilometers. 17.27 percent of the area is forested.

history
The elevation to the market community took place on September 8, 1964, the incorporation of St. Ulrich on January 1, 1970.
Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1263 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 1264 inhabitants, in 1981 1337 and in 1971 1607 inhabitants.

economy
In 2001 there were 44 non-agricultural workplaces, and there were 51 in agriculture and forestry according to the 1999 survey. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment in the place of residence was 574. In 2001, the activity rate was 45.92 percent.
- Neusiedl represents a focus of Austrian oil production .
- In 2012, the construction of 20 wind turbines began. With the planned output of 46 megawatts, they represent the largest wind farm in Lower Austria at the time.
- Tourism: There was a ski lift (rope lift) in the village until 2007. However, the lift was dismantled for cost reasons. The ski slope can be used for sledding and skiing in winter. The ski slope is exposed to the north, the valley station is in the immediate vicinity of the Zaya River .

- As a setting for films or music videos, the area around the former train station developed, where a few oil rigs and drilling pumps still serve as a backdrop. Among other things, this was chosen for the ORF production " The Professor - Tatort Oilfield ".
