Glinzendorf is a small community with 314 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Marchfeld ( Gänserndorf district , Lower Austria ). It is in the immediate vicinity of Markgrafneusiedl . The eponymous village is laid out as an anger village, in the middle of which there is a branch church Glinzendorf .
geography
Glinzendorf is located in Marchfeld in Lower Austria on the Marchegger Ostbahn, almost ten kilometers east of the Vienna city limits. The area of the municipality covers 10.43 square kilometers, only 0.83% of the area is forested.

history
Glinzendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1380.
In the battle of Wagram , the place was occupied by the French on July 5, 1809, who crossed the Russbach in the evening . The following day the place was briefly occupied by the Austrians under Radetzky , who soon had to give way.
From 1938 to 1945 Glinzendorf was part of the newly created 22nd district of Groß-Enzersdorf , part of Groß-Wien .
Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census , there were 255 inhabitants. In 1991 the community had 239 inhabitants, in 1981 240 and in 1971 282 inhabitants.

Culture and sights
- Catholic branch church Glinzendorf hl. Katharina: The church was built in the second half of the 13th century and is essentially Romanesque . At the end of the 17th century it was redesigned in the Baroque style . The classical high altar was created at the beginning of the 19th century.
economy
In 2001 there were 8 non-agricultural workplaces; according to the 1999 survey, there were 32 agricultural and forestry holdings. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment at the place of residence was 120; the 2001 employment rate was 48 percent.
traffic
- Road: The place is on some country roads that lead through Marchfeld and towards Vienna.
- Marchegger Ostbahn : The place has its own stop, the Ostbahn is currently being expanded. An underpass is under construction. Regional trains stop in the direction of Vienna and Marchegg , trains run every hour during the week and a train every two hours at the weekend.
education
A Lower Austrian state kindergarten was opened for Glinzendorf and the surrounding communities of Großhofen , Markgrafneusiedl and Raasdorf in October 2010. The location will be expanded in autumn 2019.
