Angern an der March is a market town with 3417 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria .
geography
The community is located on the northern edge of the Marchfeld and at the same time at the southern end of the Weinviertel about 40 kilometers northeast of Vienna . The border river March separates the village from Slovakia . A bridge used to connect the two countries and there has been a ferry for some years now, but this has to be closed in the event of floods - which is mostly caused by melting snow and heavy rain.
The area of the market town covers 38.13 square kilometers. 13.1 percent of the area is forested.

history
Angern an der March was first mentioned in 1260 as Anger .
The market law was first mentioned in 1465 and the second time the 1819th It was re-awarded in 1970. The local Angern Castle was destroyed in 1945 and later completely demolished. Today only a small part of the wall remains as a memento. The castle and its location can be viewed in the Franziszeischen Cadastre of the Habsburg Monarchy from 1821 as the first complete real estate cadastre of Austria .
- Bridge construction project
In October 2007 a referendum was held on the construction of a new bridge between Záhorská Ves and Angern. The citizens of the entire municipality of Angern were entitled to vote. 60% voted for the construction of the bridge. In the run-up, there was a violent exchange of blows between a citizens' initiative and the community (several leaflets with various allegations, allegations and counter-claims), primarily about the location of the new bridge. The originally planned start of construction in 2010 could not be kept. In another referendum in 2014, however, a majority voted against a bridge.

History of the coat of arms: The seal of the market from 1806 already shows such a reaper in the field of corn.

The community is characterized by agriculture and forestry. According to a survey in 1999, the number was 136. In 2001 there were 76 non-agricultural workplaces. The number of people in employment at the place of residence was 1,367. The employment rate was 44.08 percent.
