Spannberg is a market town with 1010 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria .
geography
Spannberg is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria. The area of the market town covers 19.51 square kilometers. 20.51 percent of the area is forested.

history
Spannberg was first mentioned in a document in 1198.
The parish elevation of Spannberg probably took place around 1200, the parish was incorporated into the Teutonic Order . In 1705 and 1721 there were looting by the Kuruzen . Spannberg was promoted to market in 1751.
Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 983 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 886 inhabitants, in 1981 a total of 818 and in 1971 there were 842.

- Catholic parish church Spannberg hl. Martin: The church, which is essentially medieval, was redesigned in the baroque style.
