Rudolf Plessl (born January 12, 1967 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and police officer. Plessl was a member of the Austrian National Council from October 2008 to October 2019 .

Life

After primary and secondary school, Plessl attended commercial school for a year and graduated from the police school between 1982 and 1986. From 1986 he worked in the alarm department in Vienna and was transferred to the training of detectives in 1992. He has been employed at the Vienna State Criminal Police Office since 1993.

Between 2000 and 2001, Plessl was a local councilor in Untersiebenbrunn and between 2001 and 2005 was the executive councilor for social affairs, culture and associations. In 2005 he was elected Vice Mayor, and in 2006 he took over the office of Mayor of Untersiebenbrunn. Plessl ran for first place on the SPÖ list for the Weinviertel regional constituency and 6th place on the SPÖ state list of Lower Austria in the 2008 National Council election . Plessl was able to obtain a direct mandate in his regional constituency and was sworn in as a member of the Austrian National Council on October 28, 2008. Plessl named the areas of internal affairs, tourism, alternative energies and public transport as the focus of his parliamentary activities. After the National Council election in 2019 , he resigned from the National Council.

Plessl is married and has one daughter.
