Rudolf Purps

Rudolf Purps (born December 26, 1942 in Hamm / Westphalia ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Purps first attended elementary school and then went to high school until he graduated from high school in 1962. He studied German, history, economics and politics at the Universities of Münster and Bochum . In 1967 he passed his specialist examination for teaching at secondary school. From 1969 to 1980 he was a teacher at the secondary school [Meggen]. In 1969 he became a member of the IG Bergbau und Energie trade union , he was also a member of the workers' welfare organization and Amnesty International .

In 1968 Purps became a member of the SPD. In 1977 he took over the chairmanship of the local association Halberbracht , from 1971 to 1975 he was chairman of the SPD in the Olpe district and from 1977 to 1987 he was the sub-district chairman of the Olpe district. From 1969 to 1989 Purps was represented in the Olper district council, from 1975 to 1980 he was parliamentary group chairman. He was also a member of the Lennestadt City Council from 1992 to 1994 . From 1980 to 1998 he sat in the German Bundestag , where he was the deputy chairman of the audit committee. He decided not to run for the 1998 Bundestag election and retired.
