Rudolf Růžička (composer)

Rudolf Růžička (born April 25, 1941 in Brno ) is a Czech composer .

Růžička attended the Conservatory in Brno from 1958 to 1962 and then studied at the Janáček Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Brno with Theodor Schaefer , Miloslav Ištvan and Miloslav Kabeláč . In 1969 he became a teacher of electronic music and musique concrète at the Janáček Academy. He has received many awards for his avant-garde compositions, including a. at the Musica Nova competition (1970), the Marcel Josse competition (1984) and the Mariazell 93 competition in Salzburg. He gave composition courses in numerous European cities and was the jury of the International Computer Music Competition NEWCOMP from 1986 to 1993 . Since 1992 he has been the head of the jury for the Musica Nova competition in Prague .

In addition to orchestral and vocal works as well as chamber music , he composed numerous pieces for electroacoustic instruments.
