Rudolf Schüßler (philosopher)

Rudolf Schüßler (* 1960 in Großostheim ) is a German philosopher . He has been teaching at the University of Bayreuth since 2001 , where he co-founded the Philosophy & Economics course. His main focus is moral philosophy .

life and work

Schüßler graduated from high school in 1979 . From 1981 to 1985 he studied economics , sociology and philosophy at the University of Giessen . He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology at LMU Munich , where he received his doctorate in sociology in 1989. His dissertation was entitled “Strategy, Evolution and Cooperation” and dealt with game theory approaches to conflicts and their solution.

From 1989 to 2001 Schüßler worked at the University of Duisburg , most recently as a senior assistant in philosophy. In 1995 he completed his habilitation in philosophy. In 2001 Schüßler was appointed professor of philosophy at the University of Bayreuth, where he has held the chair of philosophy II ever since.
