Rudolf Tropsch
Rudolf Tropsch (born March 8, 1870 in Budapest ) was an Austrian architect and furniture designer.
Life
Rudolf Tropsch attended the state trade school in Vienna , which he graduated in 1888. He then worked for various architectural offices, such as Ludwig Bressler and Ludwig Baumann , but was never a self-employed architect. He also worked on the magazine Der Architekt , in which he published numerous of his own designs. From 1902 he belonged to the Hagenbund . 1913–1914 Tropsch was assistant to Friedrich Ohmann at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . In 1923 he left Vienna and went to Bratislava , where his trail is lost.
meaning
Rudolf Tropsch was only able to realize a few buildings. However, his architectural designs are among the most remarkable achievements of Viennese modernism, which are therefore repeatedly published in the specialist literature. Tropsch was often active as a spatial artist who designed interior furnishings and exhibitions. His designs are bold and have a particularly puristic design language that betrays the influence of the Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh . Functionality and objectivity are its most prominent features, but they were not appreciated in its time.
