Rudolf Zawrel (born May 3, 1951 in Ziering , Germany ) was a pop singer under the stage name Daniel David and founder and CEO of Gigabell AG , the first Neuer Markt company to file for bankruptcy.

biography

After a less than successful career as a pop singer and composer in the 1970s and 1980s, the trained energy system builder founded the Internet provider IPF.NET in 1996, which he listed on the stock exchange on August 11, 1999 under the name Gigabell AG. Due to mismanagement and overestimation of its own possibilities (conversion from a pure Internet provider to a full-service telecommunications company), bad investments, etc., the company quickly found itself in the imbalance predicted by many industry experts in advance. In August 2000, the Frankfurt-based company was the first to file for bankruptcy on the Neuer Markt .

Zawrel has the reputation of being responsible for the " first great fall of the New Economy on the Neuer Markt ". He is particularly reproached for the quick and unnecessary burning ( cash burn ) of liquid financial resources.

Rudolf Zawrel lives with his wife in Estepona near Marbella and works as the product manager in charge of his wife Susan Zawrel-Scheiber's telecommunications company TerraSip , which is registered there and also offers VoIP solutions for the German market .

In September 2005 he was sentenced to 22 months imprisonment with probation by the regional court in Frankfurt am Main for insider trading and delaying bankruptcy . The verdict was preceded by a full confession .
